Manufacturing
South Carolina has emerged as a leader in the resurgence of manufacturing in the United States. South Carolina’s Upstate has become a pivotal player in that resurgence. While several large manufacturing firms have captured the headlines in the Upstate, the number of small to medium firms is growing, expanding and steadily adding good paying jobs. The role of a trained workforce is key to the growth of manufacturing with its new focus on computer technology. The Upstate is well ahead of other areas in its training of skill sets thanks to the programs offered by Tri-County Technical College and Clemson University Engineering Department and Greenville Technical College.
